All problems are not readily apparent from the initial examination. Diagnostic records are usually required
to provide additional information that is needed for detailed, individualized treatment planning.
These records include plaster models of the teeth, photographs, and X-rays of the teeth and the jaw. The records are also
helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move into alignment. Diagnostic records are usually taken at a
separate appointment although occasionally this can be done at the same time as the initial examination.
After an analysis of the records, a consultation appointment is scheduled to review the findings and explain all
aspects of your treatment in detail. After this visit you will have a thorough understanding of your treatment plan
and what to expect with braces. Appointments to begin treatment are usually scheduled at this time.
