Orthodontic treatment at a later age can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self
esteem as well as improving the health of the teeth and gums. Newer techniques are available
to make the process easier and newer types of braces are more esthetic, including; clear, translucent braces,
Invisalign and Damon braces. Over 25% of our patients are adults and the number is increasing yearly.
Adults with severe problems involving jaw size discrepancy and poor bites may require jaw surgery in conjunction
with braces to achieve the best result. More recently, temporary dental implants (removed after orthodontic treatment)
are being used to assist in moving teeth and may reduce the need for surgical intervention in some of these cases.
Only a small percentage of adults require jaw surgery but the results can be dramatic and very rewarding.
Orthodontic treatment may also be needed for adults who are in the need of dental implants or bridges.
Treatment may be needed to move adjacent teeth into more favorable positions or to open additional space
to facilitate the placement of the implant or bridge by your dentist. We work closely with your dentist to
align the teeth in the most advantageous position to make this process possible.
It is never too late to improve your smile!
